What does this picture have to do with a race at Central Park you may ask yourself? Well, yesterday we were riding at Harriman State Park and after the ride, on the way home, we sighted this, how should I put it, utterly interesting creation of po(r)t-ability in a parking lot. It sparked our interest, because we liked the idea of being able to attach "privacy" via a trailer-hitch and transport it to where ever it may be needed. One place came to mind - what about Central Park? The issue of lacking doors/privacy prior to the races has been brought up many times. Would this be a possible solution to offer some privacy for racers prior to the race?
Today, overall 162 racers were signed up and the weather cooperated well - no rain, no fog, no snow (!), but actually fall-like temperatures and sunshine (may be not at the start of the race since that was at the crack of dawn).
A couple of "our" racers were present this morning too (way to go Lenny and Theo!) - we salute their commitment and passion for racing as some of us have already switched to "training-mode" and prefer a little longer sleep-in. For that exact reason, we'd like to ask if there is anyone who would like to share a race report here?
We took a look at the results and "we" didn't win that turkey - which might actually be a good thing as otherwise we would have probably all invited ourselves to the winner's Thanksgiving dinner!
PS - Theo placed in the top 20 in the combined 4-5 field avoiding a couple of crashes toward the end of the race. Unfortunately, Lenny was involved in one of them but he was able to roll in the grass after hopping with the bike over the shoulder of the road!
