Coaching Philosophy

My goal as a coach is to help you become a complete cyclist as opposed to just someone that can produce a lot of watts while pedaling. You may ask yourself what do I mean by that? Isn't cycling just about how much power I can apply to my pedals and how quickly I can make them spin?
In my opinion, cycling is a sport that is as multifaceted as you want to make it. There is so much more to cycling then just to build up leg strength. And particularly, if you would like to become a racer or improve your racing skills, one can compare cycling to a game of chess on wheels. Not only will you need endurance and strength, but also the ability to read your competitors next moves, develop your own strategic plan, and adjust this plan depending on the constantly changing situations during each race.

I like to consider my coaching style holistic in the sense that while working on improving your physical performance, which could take seasons to reach the maximum potential, I believe in pursuing other levels of athletic growth like mastering riding skills, learning the art of racing in the peloton, and knowing and leveraging the infinite power of our minds.

When I meet a potential new client I like to have a long conversation with him or her and then a two/three hour ride in order to get to know each other while I have the opportunity to address his or her riding skills. More important, and not only for me, it is that both of us should have enough time to evaluate the potential of our professional relationship. I can help a cyclist to reach his/her goals only if we can work well together, and only if there is a reciprocal respect, esteem and trust.
